Solitary Beacons
In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent social distance caused by the virus has put an abrupt halt to live performance as we knew it. In an attempt to adapt to that reality while continuing to amplify the voices our community of composers, I began live streaming performances from my home. ‘Solitary Beacons’ are short-wave radio transmissions airing constant single-letter identifiers in standard CW (A1A), typically using Morse code. These solitary beacons are also commonly referred to as ‘channel markers,’ as they are often used to occupy and identify specific frequencies while no other traffic is transmitted.
